Crambed in the Christmas market queue
What’s happing in Stirling this Christmas blog
The Stirling Old Town Jail festive show is here which from what I have seen on the website looks like its going to have a Charles Dicken’s vibe to it. It will show fascinating and oddly hilarious stories about the history of Christmas during the Victorian era of the prison system. I’ve never really been to the Old Town Jail but hopefully someday, I will! It sounds like fun and I am really into history and all the stuff surrounding it, so going to the Old Town Jail would be great! The festive show is still on until the 22nd of December and I highly recommend to anyone who is interested. To find out more about the experience go to whatsonstirling.co.uk.
Now it is time for a Crambed in review! And I’ll be reviewing the Snow White panto that’s at the MacRoberts Art Centre.
Ok so I’m going to be honest with those of you who are reading this, but I’m not the biggest fan of pantos. However, I did really enjoy this one! Just like last year’s Aladdin, it was directed by the same guy Johnny McKnight. Last Friday when I went to the show with Dementia Friendly Dunblane (who I volunteer with) to help the people attend. Shout out to the lovely people who work and attend the café!
I thought the panto was really funny and all the actors did a great job. I did have a few problems with it, but let’s go to the pros as I really enjoyed it. The song choices for the panto were great, and my favourite one had to be using “Like a Prayer”. I did have one gripe with it because they cut to a completely different song (which I don’t know the name of) but then after that bit ends it cuts back to like nothing happened… like WHAT! However, that was only a minor thing that annoyed me.
My favourite character had to be Prince Rupert as I think he was really funny being an unserious, bumbling prince but so intentional. Tiger Mitchell did a great job as the love interest for Snow White. Giga Gray did a good job playing the villain, The Baroness. She wasn’t as good as the Demon King, the villain from the Aladdin show last year, but she did her best and singing “Lose Control” as her villain song was a good choice. Chris Forbes as Nanny Maria was alright, however I’m not a big fan of dame characters because I feel like it’s the same joke over and over… but he wasn’t bad and a lot of bits were hilarious. Well I have nothing more to say, other than I really liked this panto, even though I had a few problems with it. I don’t want to sound mean with my criticisms as everyone did amazing job with the pantomime this year, and hope all the actors get bigger opportunities in the future.
My score is 7/10, as it was good! To find out more about you will have to listen in to my show Cramb in Creative on at Thursday 3 o’clock on Stirling Community Radio. For panto tickets, head to www.macrobertartscentre.org/shows
This one for anyone who doing late Christmas shopping this year!
The Christmas Market is still on and open in Made in Stirling. I just bought my gran her Christmas present last week. I bought her a handmade pizza cutter (don’t tell her) and an art portrait of the Duke of Wellington (the one in Glasgow with the cone on his head). I’ve said this on my show a bunch of times already but this week until the 6th of January is all the time you have left so do you shopping at the Made in Stirling Christmas Market! Go, before it turns into madness like what happens on Black Friday!! So, to quote a legendary quote from Sam: “it’s exclusive TO EVREYONE” so come do your shopping at Made in Stirling 44 King Street, or if want to shop online go to madeinstirlingstore.com
Christmas can be such a fun time for people, but some people can struggle this time of year. Stirling Community Food has now closed, however their volunteers will be opening one last time on Christmas Eve! They will be distributing donated food from local businesses and supermarkets 4pm-10pm at Stirling Community Food on Well Green road. Find out more at christmascommunityfood@gmail.com
So that is the end for this Crambed in blog! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and wishing you amazing things for 2025. What I am excited for next year? Well, I am looking forward to doing more at Creative Stirling and continuing my show Cramb in Creative. On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, I am looking forward to watching the new Wallace and Gromit film and the long awaited 2nd season of Squid Game. As for media, next year I am looking forward to the new Superman movie and hopefully not delayed for another year GTA 6. Also, as a WWE fan, I can’t wait for their shows and PPVs coming to Netflix in January.
Make sure you listen to my show this week Cramb in Creative: Christmas Special, Thursday at 3pm on Stirling Community Radio.
Thank you all for reading and I will see you all next year. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
