Our Creative Youth Assembly was established in 2023, as part of our National Lottery funded Community and Media Matters project. The group, currently running once a month, brings together young people to take part in creative activities, learn more about potential career pathways, learn new skills, develop friendships, and have fun.
We regularly bring in professions working in creative, and sometimes not creative, careers to talk about their pathways, the realities of the work they do, and give advice to our group members.
If you would like to be involved with our CYA group, find out more below.
March 25th 6-8pm
Our second CYA guest of 2025 is the incredible Hugh MacDonald: a local, well know football journalist.
“Hugh MacDonald has been a journalist for more than 50 years. He was chief sub editor, literary editor and chief sports writer during his career. His work has also appeared in the Daily Mail, the Guardian and Nutmeg and Slate magazines . He regularly broadcasts on BBC and plz soccer.”
This session would be brilliant for anyone interested in journalism, sport, football, or just interested in learning more about media, as Hugh also features in several documentaries (including Alex Ferguson's recent documentary), as well as podcasts, TV, and YouTube shows.

Suitable for ages 13-25
As part of our Creative Youth Assembly, we have worked with some incredibly talented creative professionals, working throughout the Creative Industries. By inviting them to work with our young people, they can share their expertise, career paths, and give key advice. These collaborations help our members explore diverse career options, develop essential skills, and gain insights into the industry while building valuable networks for the future. Here some of the awesome people we have worked with in 2024-
