Sewing for Weavers
Use your handwoven stash to make a range of accessories to gift or keep!
Bring some of your favourite samples, already wet finished, to sew up into finished pieces. The workshop will begin with identifying the challenges of sewing with handwoven cloth and how these can be overcome. You can then choose from a range of bags, purses and gift ideas to make on the day, as well as some suggestions on more pieces to work on at home. Each weaver will have a dedicated sewing machine to work on. You will be guided through the set up and the use of the machine by the lovely Amanda Stark of Stitch the Gap, who has plenty experience of sewing handwoven fabric with Mairi Breslin, The Dunmore Weaver. Mairi will be on hand to answer any question about your weaving yarns, or to advise on any weaving specific questions.
If you have any embellishments, zips, lining fabrics, interfacing, handles etc that you would like to use, please do bring them along. There will be a variety of these type of items for you to use, as inspiration strikes, which will be charged at cost at the end of the day.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring lunch or pop out to one of the fabulous cafes in King Street for refreshments.
The cost of the workshop is £150
