Facing Down Resistance: Gender, Power and Change in Scotland

Venue

44 King St

44 King Street, Stirling, FK8 1AY

Stirling, Scotland, GB, FK8 1AY

The Gender Organising Committee based at the University of Stirling seeks to bring together researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, activists, artists and students to critically explore gender, power and change in contemporary Scotland. Specifically, we aim to extend existing debates about resistance to gender inequalities and resistance to feminist interventions in everyday and institutional contexts with a focus on the intersecting and broadly defined areas of law, religion, sport, politics, environment and health in Scotland.

With guest speaker Lesley Riddoch, an expert panel session and research pitches from junior researchers, the conference will identify where resistance occurs and the shapes it takes, and will assess what actions can be taken to face down resistance in 21stcentury Scotland.
