STIRLING DISTRICT TOURISM IN COLLABORATION WITH CREATIVE STIRLING PRESENTS… an evening of celebration for the 150th anniversary of the National Wallace Monument
Guests will enjoy a special double bill screening of the unmissable classic Hollywood musical Brigadoon / directed by Vincente Minnelli / 1954 / 108 mins + Royal Stirling / 1972 / 23 mins
Screening alongside a rare archive documentary film from the National Library Scotland that features the Wallace Monument. This special event will take place at our creative hub space at 44 King Street and includes a pop-up exhibition of curated works available to buy, featuring representations of the Wallace Monument, by Stirling artists.
Stirling’s iconic Wallace Monument opened its doors to visitors on 11th September 1869, and 2019 marks the building’s 150th anniversary. This special year is being commemorated with a programme of events – ‘Wallace 150‘ and ‘Wallace Wha Hae!‘, and this evening celebration provides yet another opportunity to get involved!
We hope you will join us for this tongue in cheek take on celebrating our own Scottish culture, which promises to be a fun and interactive evening. Guests are highly encouraged to get into the swing of this musical extravaganza and fully embrace the dress code of ‘Technicolour Jacobite’- which can be interpreted however you wish!
