Place Partnership, an introduction
Stirling’s Culture Symposium

It’s only a week to go before we have our first PechaKucha Night of 2019!

For a bit of background, PechaKucha is a simple presentation format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The slides proceed automatically and you talk along to the images as they go. It gets away from overly wordy presentations, keeps them short and sweet, and sometimes makes for an entertainingly speedy presentation!

Our PechaKucha nights have been running since April 2018. In collaboration with CodeBase Stirling, we come up with a unique theme for each night and aim to get around 10 speakers each time. The event is programmed and managed by a young steering group who do everything from promoting the event, to finding our speakers, to helping out on the night. What we love about Pecha Kucha is the sense of community that we get to build, from our regular group of volunteers on the night to seeing the same faces show up a few months down the line. It’s great to see everyone chatting during the break and to have a space for people to make lasting connections that they probably didn’t imagine they could before coming along!

So far, our themes have been: - Love - Head in the Clouds - Identity

and, our next one on the 21st of March will be looking towards ‘The Future’.

Our speakers will be talking about a range of things, such as the future of democracy, transhumanism, media futures, etc…

We always have a wide variety of people with different stories to tell. Each Pecha Kucha night is also sponsored by Harviestoun Brewery, who provide us with some of their (very popular!) Schiehallion craft beer.

To stay up-to-date with everything PechaKucha, make sure to keep your eye on the Events page right here on the website, as well as liking ‘Creative Stirling’ on Facebook.
